WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE STUDY?

Any 17- and 30-months-old child who has no diagnosed delays and is primarily English-speaking and their parent.

This study is about how children learn language and the impact technology/digital media has on language development.

WHEN IS THE STUDY?

TO SIGN UP:

We will schedule single 1-2 hour session fowhenever works for you (days, evenings, or weekends) anytime in summer or fall of 2022.

WHERE DOES IT OCCUR?

Your child will interact with an experimenter playing simple games while you (the parent) completes paperwork on your child's development. All tasks and toys are child-friendly and suitable for young infants and you may remain with your child the entire time. You will receive $20 for participating and your child will receive a small toy. We also try to give informal feedback about development at this age.

*We have COVID protocols in place to protect everyone who visits - all research assistants are masked, we schedule gaps between families, and have a HEPA air filter running. We also request that all who are able wear a mask while visiting.

In-person at our lab on the Oklahoma State University campus in Stillwater, OK.

Children within a month of their 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th birthday who have no diagnosed delays, were born at term, and speak primarily English

WHEN IS THE STUDY?

There are 2 parts: one 1-hour Zoom session scheduled whenever works for you (days, evenings, or weekends), and a 45-minute online survey for you to complete after the Zoom

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE STUDY?

This study is a collaboration with our friends at the University of Miami. It is about how children learn from videos and sounds. Your child will watch a set of videos over Zoom and interact with an experimenter who will ask them questions about various pictures. You (the parent) will then complete an online survey on your child's development. You will receive $40 for participating in both the Zoom and the survey.
